We make our living from tropical hardwood. That is exactly why replanting and legality are not a campaign here, but a precondition for there being a business at all on the other side.
Legality and documentation
SVLK
All our timber is certified under Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu, Indonesia's national system for verifying the legality of timber.
FLEGT
Indonesia is a partner country under the EU's FLEGT agreement. Our shipments are accompanied by the corresponding documentation.
Plantation grown
Our teak comes from plantations 20–50 years old — not from natural forest. It is a renewable resource that is replanted after harvest.
Traceability
We can follow the timber back through our own value chain, because we own the links ourselves. There is no anonymous intermediary in the chain.

Trees4Trees
Trees4Trees is an Indonesian non-profit that plants trees together with local farmers. We contribute to their work, and for every Ultra-Core board we sell, a tree is replanted through the organisation.
Trees4Trees was founded in 2008 and is run by the foundation Yayasan Bumi Hijau Lestari (Sustainable Green Earth Foundation), registered in Indonesia in 2009. The organisation is headquartered in Semarang, Java.
Its stated mission is to improve the environment and the lives of people in local communities through planting trees, education and related services. The model rests on local farmers tending the trees themselves: they receive seedlings and expert support, and so have a direct interest in the trees surviving their critical first years.
The work spans three landscape types. In rural areas it is about slowing drought, water scarcity, erosion and flooding. On the coast, mangrove forest is restored — among other places in Kampung Laut, Cilacap. In cities and industrial zones, green space is planted. Alongside these run Trees4Trade, where companies link planting to their products, and Trees4School, which works with education.
Every tree is registered, and partners can follow their trees online through a tracking system using codes and QR codes.

What we actually do
For every Ultra-Core board we sell, a tree is replanted through Trees4Trees. For particular production runs we plant more. On top of that our teak is plantation grown, which in itself means the resource is regenerated rather than depleted.
